SMART Local 5 is currently looking for motivated workers of all skill levels to fill positions performing sheet metal work in multiple areas of Eastern Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Northern Georgia and the entire state of North Carolina.

- HVAC Service, Residential & Commercial
- Testing & Balancing
- Architectural Wall Panels
- Welders
- Shop Fabrication

SMART Local 5 Wages and Benefits
SMART Local 5 sets the area standards in wages and benefits in each of our 3 contract areas throughout East Tennessee and North Carolina. Our members receive an hourly wage with additional benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401K, and pension all provided at no extra cost to you.
Our Benefits don’t come off your hourly wage, they are in addition to what you make on the check!
Our Journeymen wages include $33.00/HR on the check with an additional $17.88/HR in benefits for a total wage package of $50.88/HR.
No matter what your skill level, we have a competitive wage package for you.
Our Journeymen wages include $32.19/HR on the check with an additional $13.10/HR in benefits for a total wage package of $45.29/HR.
No matter what your skill level, we have a competitive wage package for you.
Our Journeymen wages include $39.00/HR on the check with an additional $18.01 in benefits for a total wage package of $57.01/HR.

- Amazon – Hamlet, North Carolina
Amazon is investing $10 billion in a new data center campus that will be built at the Energy Way Industrial Park in North Carolina. Amazon’s new data center campus will be built on approximately 800 acres and will contain 20 buildings. - Digital Reality – Charlotte, North Carolina
Buildings will total 3 million sq ft for telecommunications and data storage uses, built out over two phases. - Novo Nordisk – Clayton, North Carolina
$4.1 billion expansion – Building a new manufacturing facility and doubling its NC footprint.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Have a valid State issued ID
- Have dependable transportation
- High School Diploma or GED (For Apprenticeship Applicants Only)
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Background Check (project specific)
- Have the desire to learn and work well with others
- Use industry related tools and safety products
- Authorized to work in the United States
** Licensing & welding certifications are a plus**
