The SMART and SMACNA RISE (Respect, Integrity, Support, Empowerment) Committees were formed in late 2023. The two committees collaborate on resources to improve recruitment and retainment in the sheet metal industry.
The committee is a people of color-centered collective dedicated to creating a welcoming space for Black, Latino/Hispanic, Asian, Indigenous, people of color, LGBTQ+, other historically marginalized groups, and allies.
Mission Statement:
“Our mission is to create a diverse and welcoming SMART/SMACNA community through the recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups (Black, Latino/Hispanic, Asian, Indigenous, people of color, LGBTQ+, other historically marginalized groups, and allies.); education programs that celebrate diverse histories and cultures; networking and fellowship opportunities and; coaching and mentorship.”
